‘Photo real’ images can be used as design tool during design development phases, or at the end of the design process as a final rendered graphic. Implementing photo real imagery during design process would greatly assist to see project interaction with overall scheme context at early stage while moving towards the final design phase where all necessary characteristics are applied to simulate the real life atmosphere by adding people, trees, cars and other environmental element. Photo real imagery can be generated from any CAD drawing or even hand sketch concept in all natural condition (Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night, etc). The final result of an accurate visualisation will greatly assist planning application process as it provides precise representation of the proposed development and are used as a powerfull marketing tool.
Photomontage is a term that used when the existing site photograph is digitally overlayed by computer generated images to create the illusion of the building already having been completed. This would be the best method in showing interaction of the proposed scheme into a real site photograph so the impression of a the final design within its actual context can be provided. To be able to match the existing photograph, the 3d graphic would be carefully generated with similar lighting exposure, camera position, and go through the final retouching to adjust the final color tone so it can perfectly blends with the existing photograph. Therefore a suitable photograph of the site need to be taken to ensure quality of the final image. Similar to Photo Real imagery, Photomantage typicaly used for planning application and marketing tool.
